Thank You and Farewell Copeland

Print

Ten years and five albums later, alternative rock crew Copeland is calling it quits. Before these Florida natives pack up their guitars and shut off their amps, the band is currently on a farewell tour. On Monday, March 15, the tour made its way to Minneapolis’ Varsity Theatre. With opening acts Deas Veil, Person L, and I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody’s Business, Copeland packed out the trendy, baroque-style venue.

Playing a mix of tracks from “Beneath Medicine Tree” to “You are My Sunshine,” the band expressed a great appreciation for their fans, especially those faithful few who supported them in the early days. Although this spring tour will be their last, Copeland has not yet ruled out producing one more studio album. Devoid of fist pumping and crowd surfing, the performance stayed within the band’s usual chill, relaxed groove. Lead singer Aaron Marsh—who has lent his voice to acts like Underoath and Anberlin—put on a soulful performance. His voice, however, seemed a tad lower in tone, displaying a little less of his impressively high falsetto.

Copeland capped off the show with crowd favorites “California” and “You Have My Attention.” After shows in Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado, the band and their openers will hit the Southern states, from California to Florida. Although the curtain will close for good on April 11 in Orlando, the music will live on in the heads, hearts, and iPods of fans from coast to coast. FollowYouTour_PosterThe Follow You Tour made its third stop at our very own Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN.  Fans packed out the house in high anticipation of stand out artists, Brandon Heath, Leeland, and Francesca Battistelli.  They flocked in, excited for a great night of worship and fun with their favorite artists.  Those in attendance got more than they could’ve hoped for.  The entire concert was a constant flow of worship, energy, and beautiful collaboration.  They made it easy for fans to join in the worship by following the lyrics they had projected onto screens throughout the whole concert.
